This past weekend three Raider track and field standouts represented Mount Ayr in the 2019 North vs South Senior All-Star Meet hosted at Iowa City West High School. The North and South teams were selected with Highway 30 as the dividing line. Hunter Haveman, Connor Eaton and Chase Smith were invited to compete with some of the state’s best track and field stars.
Connor Eaton ran great leadoff legs in the 3rd place 4×200 and 4×400 relays for the south squad. Hunter Haveman placed second in the open 400 (51.14) also making him 4th on the MACS All-time top 10 list. Haveman would finish the meet anchoring the south squad 4×1 team to the victory (44.38). Chase Smith was the middle distance representative for the Raiders as he ran on the winning 4×800 team (8:19.19) and placed 3rd in the open 800 (2:12.68).
Senior Hunter Arends also made the invite list, however he had an honored Saturday lane assignment with his older brother, former Raider Track member Logan Arends’s wedding. Congrats to all on a fun weekend and historic season!
