The Raiders went on to record nine hits against the Eagles, but struggled early on to make contact at the plate.
“We struggled the first game against Nodaway Valley, we still struggled tonight. We still need to get more work in,” said coach Chris Elwood. “We’ve been putting in a lot of work and hopefully it’s going to click here eventually, but right now it has been a struggle. The final score was 13 – nothing, but it was a lot closer than that.”

Wayne 7, Mount Ayr 1
The Raiders would play Wayne Friday night in what would turn out to be an interesting game.
The Raiders fell 7-1 in the matchup, with pitcher Briar Knapp taking the loss and the Raiders only recording five hits on the night.
The interesting part of the game though, came when Wayne pitched an ineligble pitcher.
He was ineligible because he was over the pitch count and required another day of rest.
With the infraction, Wayne will be subject to automatic forfeit and Mount Ayr will receive a win.
Coach Elwood has been in contact with the Athletic Association, but as of Monday night, had not heard back on the ruling.

Mount Ayr 2, MT 1
Monday night, the Raiders traveled to Mormon Trail to play in what would be a low scoring contest.
The Raiders scored early, putting a run on the board in the bottom of the first.
Pop flys and ground outs plagued both teams throughout the night as they struggled to find homeplate.
A couple of nice catches by both teams showcased the defensive battle that ensued in Humeston.
In the top of the fifth, Mormon Trail capitalized on a couple Raider mistakes to score the tying run.
The game went into one extra inning and Mount Ayr was able to take the lead after Isaac Grose slammed one out right, knocking in Keelan Klommhaus for the the winning run.
“We are very happy with that win. They are a very quality team,” said coach Elwood. “They had won eight in a row. Keelan threw very well, he’s limited right now due to his arm and Dawson came in and threw five great innings. If we throw strikes and play solid defense we can play some great ball.”
