Caroline McAlexander “flies” into home as her teammates wait for her after hitting her third home run of the season against Southwest Valley. The Raiderettes would go on to defeat the Lady Timberwolves 10-0.
Stanton 5, Mt. Ayr 2
The Raiderettes got a bit of a surprise when Stanton came to town last Tuesday.
In a game they expected to win, the Raiderettes fought for a go ahead run after the game became tied 1-1 through one inning.
In the fourth, some mistakes on the Raiderette’s end, the Stanton Viqueens scored three runs. The Raiderettes answered with only one.
By the end of the game the Viqueens went ahead 5-2 to win the game.
“Four starters out is a struggle. Unfortuntely, a lot of pressure right now and when you put that much pressure on people, we’re just not executing,” said coach Bret Ruggles. “You’re asking young kids to come in and do great things in a varsity ball game and they just aren’t ready yet. Didn’t expect this one at all tonight but hats off to Stanton. They hit the ball, they jumped the first pitched, they did a lot of nice things and just out executed us tonight.”

The Raiderettes found their way back in the win column with a victory over the Southwest Valley Timberwolves.
In their previous meeting, the Raiderettes won 12-0, while this time they won 10-0.
Caroline McAlexander was back in the lineup after being shaken up in the Griswold tournament the previous weekend.
McAlexander was able to knock one out of the park, good for a couple of runs to help the Raiderettes win. She also pitched six innings and struck out 11 batters while only allowing three hits.
Addy Reynolds and Alexa Anderson were also on top of their game, scoring two runs each for Mount Ayr, while Anderson also recorded an RBI.
“This was a good one for us tonight. After the Stanton loss we could have come in here and laid an egg,” said coach Ruggles. “We were pretty down, for us to come back in here tonight and get a win was great for us. We hit the ball, overall, much better tonight than we have for awhile.”
