The road to the State tournament however, wasn’t easy, as the teams infront of them consisted of Logan-Magnolia and Underwood.
Mount Ayr 4, Lo-Ma 0
The Raiderettes went into Wednesday night, looking for revenge against the team who defeated them a year earlier, and achieved what they set out to achieve.
Two home runs, the first hit by Halsie Barnes and the second by Alexa Anderson, helped jumpstart the Raiderette offense, while getting into the head of pitcher Reanna Rife, of Logan-Magnolia.
“When we hit her, we hit her hard,” said coach Bret Ruggles.
Despite allowing four runs, including the two home runs, Rife struck out 12 Raiderette batters.
The Raiderettes mustered five hits against Rife, but a combination of small ball and girls looking at the big picture and being okay with sacrificing hits for runs won the game in the long run.

Friday night, Mount Ayr hosted the Underwood Eagles in the semi-final round of Regional play, after Underwood defeated Sidney the previous Wednesday.
The Raiderettes started off early, getting runners on base and , once again, playing methodical softball, getting girls across home plate to score runs. By the third inning, the Raiderettes were leading 4-0.
Addy Reynolds was the run leader for Mount Ayr, scoring two runs, however the Raiderette RBI stat showed three by the end of the night hit by Caroline McAlexander, Alexa Anderson and Abigail Barnes.
Rachel Sobotka and Sam Stewart also recorded a run each to round out the scoring.
The game went quickly after the third, with Caroline McAlexander striking out 11 batters and allowing five hits and one run in her last appearance on the Raiderette pitching mound.
The Raiderettes went on to defeat the Eagles 4-1, exactly 25 years to-the-day, that the Raiderettes defeated Underwood to go to State back in 1994.
Members of that 1994 Raiderette team were in attendance, including coach Brandie Ruggles, who was a starting eighth grader during that run, while Tracy Barnes and Teena Jones were in attenandance to watch their children, Halsie and Linsie Barnes and MaKayla and MaKenna Jones, respectively. Also attending the game, was Brandy Shay, who was apart of the team and is now acting school board president.
