PATRICIA EDGINGTON

Patricia “Patty” Edgington was called home to Glory on January 7, 2020.
Patty was born on February 1, 1959 to Howard and Velda (Clark) Pierson in Council Bluffs, IA. She grew up, and spent her school years, in Mount Ayr, IA. Patty was creative and outgoing in her young years and enjoyed many activities especially being editor of the Mount Ayr Community High school yearbook.
In her college years, Patty moved to Des Moines where she met, and fell in love with, Jeffery Edgington. The two were united in marriage on May 1, 1983. To this union were born four children: Blake, Shane, Caitlyn and Cale.
Patty accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 24 and spent her early married years actively involved with church activities; including bible study and teaching AWANAS. Patty shared her love of, and faith in, Christ with all of her children, instilling this faith in them as well. It is in this faith that Patty’s family rests with hope that she is now whole and well and they will be reunited again.
As her young family was beginning, Patty was diagnosed with Moya Moya. During her 25-year battle against this disease, Patty continued to be strong in her faith in the Lord and continued to be as involved with her family as she could be. During her journey through her illness, Patty and her family gained many life-long friends and new “family” among her many care givers. Despite many challenges, Patty remained bright and loving, touching the lives of all she met.
Patty is survived by her four children; Blake (Anita) Edgington of New Iberia, LA, Shane Edgington of Ankeny, IA, Cale Edgington of Ankeny, IA, Caitlyn (Paul Collom) Edgington of Mount Ayr, IA; her grandchildren; Nicholas, Jamie, Jersey, Greyden, Liberty; one brother, Mike Pierson, of Kalona, IA; one sister, Teresa Pierson of CO.
