LILA ROSE BONEBRAKE
Lila Rose Bonebrake (Drake) 99 of Mount Ayr, IA died February 1, 2020 at the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr.
Lila, daughter of Amelia (Dolecheck) and Cloyd Drake was born January 31, 1921. She graduated from Mount Ayr High School in 1938. Lila worked at the Soil Conservation office in Mount Ayr after graduating.
Lila married Jack Bonebrake on April 12, 1941. On June 13, 1942 Jack began serving in the US Army during World War II. He served for 3 ½ years with 18 months in Europe. They lived in Indianola for many years where Lila worked at a legal firm and Jack worked at the Des Moines Newspaper. They retired and returned to Mount Ayr for the remainder of their years together.
Lila was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; son, Donald; and sister, Evelyn.
Lila is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sue Ellen and Michael Levich, of Tampa, FL; her niece, Karen Tierney of Kansas City; her niece and husband, Judy and Don Robinett, of Roach, MO; her niece and husband, Shelia and Bill Spires, of Largo, FL; her niece and husband, Nancy and Lewis Motter, of Fairfax, VA; her great niece and husband, Shanon and Jason Powers, of Kansas City; and cousin, Mickey Drake, in Mount Ayr.
Open visitation will be held at Armstrong Funeral Home on Friday, February 7 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Maddy officiating.
