GLENN EDWIN JOHNSON

Glenn Edwin Johnson, 85, passed away on March 3, 2020 in Camdenton, MO. He was born on August 23, 1934 in Ringgold County, IA to Wayne and Bessie (Stanley) Johnson. He spent his younger years south of Mount Ayr, IA and graduated from Mount Ayr High School.
Glenn served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957 in Communications. After exiting the Army, he attended a technical school for TV repair in Des Moines. He married Kathryn “Ruth” Johnson in 1960 and they resided in NE Oregon. He worked as a TV Repair Technician until he transferred to Emporia, KS to become Manager of Cablevision. After his retirement, he and Ruth traveled until her passing in 2003.
Glenn then moved to Camdenton, MO where he married Janice (Hartlein) Downey in 2012. Glenn and Janice spent eight wonderful years traveling and sharing their lives together.
Glenn was preceded in death by parents, Wayne and Bessie (Stanley) Johnson, and first wife, Kathryn “Ruth” (Downey) Johnson.
He is survived by his brother, Lloyd and Muriel (Stephens) Johnson, Mount Ayr, IA; second wife, Janice (Hartlein) Downey, Camdenton, MO; daughter, Tammy (Johnson) and Curtis Plowman, Wichita, KS; stepson, Keith Patterson, Osage Beach, MO; stepdaughter, Cheryl Bishop and Rick Russell, Kingsville, MO; grandchildren, Lauren and Jordan Plowman, Wichita, KS, Austin and Ryan Bishop, Riley Russell of Kingsville, MO along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr is in charge of the arrangements.
Graveside services were at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr, IA.
Officiating was Pastor Bill Armstrong.
Casketbearers were Curtis Plowman, Jim McElvogue, Dominic Fontana,  Harold Ness, Rick Russell,  Skip Mitchell and Reid Evans.
Military Honors by the Ringgold Post #172 and US Army Honor Guard.
Burial was at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr, IA.
Memorial fund is to Share the Harvest Food Pantry, 689 N MO-7, Camdenton, MO 65020.
