RICHARD RAY GRACE
Richard Ray Grace died March 6, 2020 at his home in Diagonal from a massive heart attack at age 55.
Richard was born April 4, 1964 in Creston, IA. He spent his childhood living in Malvern, then moving to Lenox, IA, where he lived with his grandparents, Alice and Ray Long. Later, working for Perdew Construction, he moved to Conway, IA where he met Pamela Seals. After dating a year, Rick and Pam were joined in marriage on July 19, 1986 in Sharpsburg, IA. In 1987, they were surprised with their first child, Melissa. In 1989 they were joined with their second child, Rodney. In 1991, Ricky joined their family and in 1992 they finished their family bringing home their fourth child, Samantha. In 1993, they moved to Diagonal where he built the family home to be closer to his father, Doyle Grace.
Richard had several different jobs over years. Starting with Denny Perdew tiling fields. Later he went to work for John L Stephens building chicken barns. Then deciding to start his own business with Kenny Huber, R & K Contractors installed siding, guttering and were roofing contractors out of Brinlees Home Improvement of Omaha, NE for several years. Wanting to be home with his family more, Rick went to work for Chris Rassmussen running heavy machinery. In 2007 he got his CDL and started truck driving for Danielski LLC until he became disabled.
Ricks hobbies included pulling in the IAMO truck and tractor pulls, riding motorcycles, going to the races, working on vehicles, spending time with his family and friends and his most favorite was spending time with his three grandchildren.
Rick was preceded in death by his dad, Doyle Grace; grandparents, Alice and Ray Long; his in-laws, Mary and Ray Seals; adopted son, Ricky Brewer; his brothers, Stoney McKey, Michael Freeman, Scott Mains, Bud Anderson, Terry Tull and Corey Kuenon.
Rick is survived by his wife, Pam Grace; children, Melissa Grace, Rodney Grace, Ricky Grace and Samantha Killion; grandchildren, Cayleigh Woollums, Jacob Levy and Michael Ford; three sisters, Katina, Kathy and Karen; brother, Kevin; many adopted children; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr is assisting the family with Rick’s arrangements.
Celebration of Life will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at the Diagonal Community Building in Diagonal, IA.
Special songs will be “Daddy You Can Let Go Now”, “Jealous Of The Angels” and “Stairway To Heaven”.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Marler, Kolten Marler, Mike McVey, Jerry (Hippie) Brissett, Ron Randall, Lance Brandon, Ivan Key, Ken Massey, Thomas Bradley, Kenny Hubert, Mike Mains and Lloyd Long.
