JACKIE DEAN GOODALE
Jackie Dean (Jack) Goodale was born June 6, 1945 in Clearfield, IA to Charles and Phyllis (Morey) Goodale. Jack passed away on March 17, 2020 at the Clearview Nursing Home in Mount Ayr, IA.
Jack attended Clearfield and Maloy schools, which he later graduated from Mount Ayr Community School in 1964. He was active in Mount Ayr FFA and the Maloy Shamrocks 4-H Club throughout school. Jack always had a contagious laugh and enjoyed picking on you. Jack enjoyed showing cattle and received Grand Champion many times with his Herford Cattle. In the fall of 1964, he attended Mason City Auctioneer School. After attending auctioneer school, he was an auctioneer for G & G Auction Company which he owned and operated with his dad.
On February 28, 1965, Jack married Diane Denney. Three children were born in this marriage: Michael Dean, Jackie Lynn and Tammy Renee. They later divorced. Jack enjoyed camping, riding horses and checking cows with his children. The horse riding would sometimes be interesting like when he was riding Diamond and Diamond decided to take Jack underneath the clothesline, knocking him off! He taught his kids how to drive the tractor at a young age so he could ride in the wagon behind it and throw corn out to the cows in the wintertime. He kept Reese’s candy bars and a pop in his fridge for his grandkids when they stopped by to visit. Jack raced go-carts in Allendale, MO.
In February of 1967, Jack joined the Army Reserves and went to basic training in Washington. He served for six years in the Army Reserves. He farmed for several years and worked at sale barns in the area as an auctioneer and as a ring man. He also traveled as a cattle buyer for several years. With him working around sale barns, Jack would bring home many different animals for the children. They will never forget “Blue” the Brahma cow. When the kids would go to the field with Jack, he would pack peanut butter and cheese sandwiches for them to eat.
Jack is survived by his daughters; Jackie (Marty) Schnoor of Mount Ayr, IA and Tammy (Doug) Martin of Davis City, IA; five grandsons; Trevin Martin, Darin Martin, Tyler Martin, Weston Schnoor, and Caleb Schnoor; very special cousins; Bob (ReNa) Bailey of Diagonal, IA and Sandy Bailey of Indianola, IA; brother-in-law; Gary Sheets of Savanna, MO; many nieces and nephews.
