The Raiders went the distance with Southeast Warren last Tuesday, July 7, defeating the Warhawks 3-2 in a full seven innings.
Southeast Warren scored one run early on Mount Ayr and eventually led 2-0, but a strong fourth inning rally came for Mount Ayr in which they scored all three runs.
The game would go three more innings with staunch defenses on both sides, however, the Raiders would come out with the victory.
Isaac Grose started on the mound for the Raiders. He threw 72 pitches, allowing two runs on one hit and walking five, while striking out three.
“We wanted to give Isaac the start tonight on senior night, he has been kind of struggling a bit,” said coach Chris Elwood. “He hasn’t got a whole lot of innings and threw some strong innings for us. Had a few too many walks but only gave up one hit.”
Jace Grose came in to relieve Isaac. Jace threw 62 pitches, striking out four, while allowing two hits and walking two, but allowed no runs.
At-bat, the Raiders saw four hits, three runs and one RBI.
Cayden Lambert, Jaixen Frost, Briar Knapp and Austin Greenland all had hits for the Raiders.
The Mount Ayr defense had no errors on the night, with 21 putouts and 32 total chances.
The Warhawks saw four hits at the plate as well, with two runs and one RBI, while the fielders also saw no errors. They had 18 putouts on 21 total chances.
On the mound the Warhawks pitched Bryce Hall and Tanner Dierking. Hall struckout six while allowing one hit and walking three and Dierking struckout five, allowing three runs on three hits and walking three.

Centerville 11, MA 1
The Raiders were able to squeeze in one more regular season game on Wednesday, July 8 against the Centerville Big Reds.
Mount Ayr traveled to Centerville to take on the class 3A powerhouse in the sweltering heat.
The Raiders only gave up one run in the first, before the Big Reds slammed eight runs in the bottom of the third.
Mount Ayr was down by three in the third and had two outs against Centerville.
Briar Knapp started the game for the Raiders, but was pulled to save his pitch count.
Keelan Klommhaus, who was a recent addition to the team, joining after a shoulder surgery left him sidelined for most of his senior year sports career, came in for his first appearance for the Raiders since last season.
“We wanted to see if he could help us in districts,” said coach Elwood. “It’s kind of hard to tell against a great hitting team like Centerville.”
Klommhaus was pulled after 30 pitches and Jaydon Knight came in to finish out the game.
Knight allowed two runs, on five hits and struck out two in his appearance.
The Raiders allowed two more runs in the fifth after getting their lone run in the fourth, to end the game on run-rules.
At bat, the Raiders had a lone hit from Austin Greenland for a double, while Dawson Frost scored the lone run on a sacfrifice fly, pushing Isaac Grose across the plate.
Despite the 11-1 loss, the Raiders only committed one error and had 13 putouts and 21 total chances.
The Centerville bats saw 11 runs on 14 hits and nine RBI.
In the field, the Big Reds saw five errors, 15 putouts and 26 total chances.
The Centerville pitcher, Merrick Mathews, allowed one run and struck out four.

The Mount Ayr Raider baseball team began their district run with a contest against the Seymour Warriors.
The night started slow, but ended after four and a half innings.
It took the Raider batting lineup twice through to get the Warrior pitcher timed up, but afterwards, the Raiders put the game away after a four run third and seven run fourth inning.
The Raiders had three home-runs in the contest coming off the bats of Kolben Klommhaus, Jaixen Frost and Briar Knapp.
“Dawson Swank was very effective on the mound, making it 56 pitches in five innings,” said coach Elwood. “He did a good job of pitching to contact and our defense did a nice job. We will need to get our bats going early if we expect to beat Lamoni on Tuesday.”
