Olive Lucille Reynolds was born on February 16, 1929, in Lamoni, IA, and was the oldest daughter of Earl (Shorty) Theamon Reynolds and Opal Lucille Puttroff. She departed this life on October 23, 2020. She graduated from Mount Ayr High School in 1947, taught at a country school and married Paul Fordyce Davis on December 26, 1947. They moved to a farm north of Mount Ayr in May 1948 and were blessed with two daughters, Paulette and Teresa. Olive moved from the farm to Mount Ayr in October 2001.
Olive kept busy throughout her 91 years. She enjoyed flowers and gardening, including helping her sister, Lila, at her flower shop. Olive was a faithful Christian and active member of the United Baptist Presbyterian Church and previously attended the Mount Ayr First Christian Church and the Tingley Christian Church. She supported many church and community fundraisers, enjoyed attending events at the Legion Hall with family and friends, played in a Canasta group for many years and collected angels and glass hens. She was devoted to her six siblings and known for preparing delicious food, cookies, Christmas divinity and sending cards for all occasions. One special family memory is Christmas Eve chili and oyster soup suppers by candlelight at Olive and Paul’s farm.
Olive Davis was preceded in death by her husband, parents, parents in-law, Burton and Mary Davis, brothers, Earl Junior (Fern) and Marvin Reynolds, sister, Lila Overholtzer (Allen Richards and Jim Overholtzer), in-laws, Paul Drake, Cecil Davenport, Millard Davis (Juanita) and Mary Ann (Bob) Sprague.
Olive is survived by her daughters, Paulette (Randy) Weddle, Teresa (Steven) Small; five grandchildren, Rachel (Todd) Frank, Becky (Joe) Coyner, Tara (Jeremy) Smith, Grant (Rebecca) Small, Shannon (Tom) Stendel; 11 great grandchildren Brady, Tristen, Robbie, Reggie, Kayla, Karch, Lily, Alaina, Garrett, Madeline and Hailey; one great great grandchild Elijah; siblings, Lou (Steve) Church, Mildred Drake and Betty Davenport and many nieces, nephews, relatives and good friends and neighbors. Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr is in charge of the arrangements.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at the United Baptist Presbyterian Church in Mount Ayr, IA.
Officiating was Pastor Mike Maddy.
Musicians were Nancy Sackett and Debbie Larson.
Music was “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” (Congregational), “Precious Lord Take My Hand” and “In The Garden”.
Casketbearers were Jerold Adams, Kenny Davenport, Deric Drake, Jeff Hart, Doyle Kelsey and  Greg Sprague.
Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr, IA.
Memorials are to the United Baptist Presbyterian Church and American Legion.
