Charles Curtis Swanson was born on March 21, 1928, in Ohiowa, NE, and passed away December 10, 2020, at the Westwood Living Center in Clinton, MO at the age of 92 years and nine months. Charles “Chuck” was the third child of Maddes L. and Elsie Demaree Swanson. He graduated from high school in Danbury, IA.
Charles married Phyllis Perkins of Claremont, S.D. in 1950. This union was blessed with three children, Thomas Carl, Michael Dean and Sue Ann. Charles and Phyllis divorced in 1979. In 1986 Charles married Shirley Stadler of Warsaw, MO and gained two more children, Albert Eugene and Audara Lynn.
Charles was involved with many business ventures throughout his life. He was a farmer, sold dairy equipment, was in the fur business and bought and sold farm machinery. He enjoyed traveling the country and visiting with people as he looked for good deals. He loved his dogs and always had one by his side. As a teenager he learned to fly but didn’t get his private pilot’s license until 30 years later.     Charles enjoyed his family and all of his grandchildren. In his later years when he couldn’t be on the go as much, he especially enjoyed having grandsons, Dylan and Ethan, come out and spend time with him.
Charles was proceeded in death by his parents, his sister, June, and brother-in-law, Les Anderson. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, children, Tom Swanson and wife, Patty, Mike Swanson and wife, Martha, Sue Tillman and husband, Dennis, Albert Stadler and wife, Lana Jill, and Audara Lutjen and husband, Randy. He is also survived by grandchildren, Kris Swanson, Cassie Swanson, Elizabeth Barnett, David Swanson, Bethany Swanson, Brenna Tillman, Brett Tillman, Tara Kingrey, Kerry Stadler, Dylan and Ethan Lutjen, as well as six great grandchildren, Abby Swanson, Kailee Haas, Landon and Keegan Eyre, Addy Swanson and Sierra Kingrey. He also has one sister, Marjorie Anderson, of Salix, IA and one brother, Bob Swanson, and wife, Linda, of Kellerton, IA, as well as nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, MO. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
