Mt. Ayr 60, Wayne 42
Wayne traveled to Mount Ayr last week in what would be the third Pride of Iowa meeting in a row for the Raiderettes.
Mount Ayr came out in a press that proved difficult for the 5-2 Lady Falcons.
The Raiderettes scored 18 points in the first quarter, and again in the second, to lead Wayne 36-15 at halftime.
Changing their defense to a zone to start the second half, Mount Ayr struggled against the Wayne offense, not creating the turnovers that they saw in the first.
Wayne chiseled away at the deficit, only by a little, outscoring the Raiderettes 15-11.
The press was once again back on the agenda for Mount Ayr in the fourth, which helped Mount Ayr close out the contest to improve to 6-1 on the year.
Leading the team in points was Maddie Stewart with 16 and Rachel Sobotka with 15.
Under the hoop, Alexa Anderson saw 12 rebounds and four steals, while Sobotka snagged 12 boards and two steals.
Stewart led the team in steals with six.
Channler Henle stayed busy in the win with five assists.
