The Raiders improved to 5-1 last Thursday night and faced a tough Worth County Tiger team to close out the 2021 season Monday night.

The Raiders came out of the gate hot on Thursday in Corydon, leading the Falcons 19-7 after the first buzzer and then heading into halftime with a 30-13 lead heading into halftime.
The second half, however, saw the Falcons bounce back, much like other teams the Raiders have played this season, with Wayne outscoring Mount Ayr 17-16 in the third quarter.
“It’s alarming a little bit, because that’s what happened at Lenox, that’s what happened against Southeast Warren. We are not starting the second half the way I want to,” said coach Bret Ruggles. “Sometimes that’s personnel, sometimes it’s playcalling. It’s something to look into.”
The Raiders were able to keep the lead in the fourth and scored 17 against Wayne’s five to improve to 5-1 on the season.
On the night, the Raiders shot 37.3 percent from the field and 64 percent at the freethrow line.
Leading the charge was Jaixen Frost who scored 22 points, which was helped by hitting eight-of-eight freethrows on the night.
Braydon Pierson led the team in steals with six and scored nine points, while Cody Larson led the team in rebounds with eight, while the team had 33 in total.

The Mount Ayr Raiders head into winter break with a record of 6-1 after roping off six wins in a row after a season-opener loss to Clarke.
Mount Ayr opened the night with Worth County ahead 4-0 very early, but once the Raiders found a rhythm, they went up 15-8 after the first quarter buzzer sounded.
By halftime, the Raiders led the Tigers 42-17, however, the third quarter blues hit the Raiders once more and Worth County went from a 24 point deficit to an 18 point deficit at the end of the third after outscoring the Raiders 26-20.
“The first film we saw we thought we needed to change defense at halftime, so we did,” said coach Bret Ruggles. “Well they knifed us again so maybe it isn’t a defense thing. We are starting that third quarter and there’s no sense of urgency.”
The Raiders were back on the gas in the fourth, however, outscoring the Tigers 22-9 to take a dominant win heading into break.
On the court, the Raiders were led by Jaixen Frost and Braydon Pierson who had 28 and 27 points, respectively.
Frost made a layup late in the fourth to jump ahead of Pierson before the bench entered the game.
In a friendly battle, Pierson looked up at the board and groaned as he saw Frost had jumped into the lead before giving his teammate a hug and smiles were had by the exiting members.
“The nice thing is Jaixen saw the box and looked at Pierson and sai
