NV 50, Mt. Ayr 30
It was a tough outing for the Raiderettes last Tuesday at ‘The Well’, falling to the Nodaway Valley Wolverines 50-30.
Maddie Stewart led the team in points with 10, the only Raiderette in the double digits, however, eight Raiderettes put points on the board in the team effort.
The Raiderettes shot 27.3 percent from the field and 43.5 percent from the freethrow line, which helped the Wolverine lead grow.
Nodaway Valley was stingy with the ball, only allowing two steals from the Mount Ayr girls, while collecting 16 steals themselves.
“We struggled on the offensive side of the ball,” said coach Thad Streit. “We didn’t trust eac hother. We had so many silly turnovers because of that. We lost by 20 to a pretty good team.”
The Raiderettes had 32 turnovers on the night.
“That’s probably the best defensive effort I’ve seen from us all year,” said coach Streit. “Tabby Henle has turned into a good defensive player for us. She also gives us a nice offensive punch for us too which we need.”

Mt. Ayr 36, Bedford 26
The Raiderettes bounced back from the loss to the Wolverines and secured a Pride of Iowa win over the Bedford Bulldogs last Friday.
It was a tough defensive outing for both sides Friday night, with 10 points scored in total in the first quarter, with Mount Ayr leading 8-2.
The Raiderettes held the lead throughout the low-scoring affair, to come out on top 36-26.
It was another team effort on offense, as the Raiderettes were led by Maddie Stewart with nine points, followed by Jill Kniep with seven and Tabby Henle with six.
Payten Lambert found a little rhythm in the contest as well, scoring five and collecting three steals and two assists on the night.
The Raiderettes were 29.3 percent from the field and 54.5 percent from the line, while the Bulldogs shot a 22 percent from the field and 54.5 percent from the line, as well.
“We were concerned about their shooters and wanted to take away their driving lanes,” said coach Streit. “We did a great job on the defensive end, but we are still stale on the offensive end. Right now we will take it. A win is a win.”

Mt. Ayr 59, SWV 33
The Raiderettes put up another winning performance Monday night against the Southwest Valley Timberwolves, but not without a fight from our friends from Corning.
The Raiderettes held a slim, one point, lead after the first quarter that grew into an eight point lead heading into halftime.
Things really picked up for the Raiderette offense in the second-half where the Raiderettes grew their lead, allowing nine points in the entire second-half and scoring 27.
Maddie Stewart had herself a game, scoring 29 points, to lead the team, while teammate Tegan Streit scored 14.
Both Stewart and Streit recorded nine rebounds, while Halsie Barnes led the team with 10.
Streit recorded a team-high four assists and Stewart led the steals category with four.
The Raiderettes shot better from the field than in previous contests, shooting a 40.4 percent and a 57.7 percent from the line.
“For some reason we weren’t guarding them the way we should have been and once we made the switch our defense led to our offense,” said coach Thad Streit. “We did some super nice things on offense but our defense is what I think won us this game. We are still having way too many turnovers and trying to thread the needle and we need to polish that up.”
