Mount Ayr hosted the Nodaway Valley Wolverines in what would be their second matchup this season, with the first going to the Wolverines at Wells Fargo by a score of 50-30.
This contest was a little bit different, as the Raiderettes held their own, however, ultimately, taking a three point loss to the high-powered Wolverine offense.
“Our girls gave one heck of an efford,” said coach Thad Streit. “We played with so much heart and determination. To come up just three points short is deflating, but I am so proud of how they played. I have told them many times the last few weeks that we are as good as we want to be and this game showed our potential.”
The Raiderettes shot well on the night, hitting 51 percent of their shots, making 17-of-33, six of which were from beyond the three-point arc and 12 shots were sank from the free throw line, out of 17 attempts.
The Wolverines were given too many opportunites to shoot in Mount Ayr, with the Raiderettes giving up 31 turnovers on the night which helped the Nodaway Valley girls make 17-of-57 shots, six from three-point territory, while sinking 15 from the free throw line.
The Raiderettes recorded nine steals and 14 assists, along with 25 rebounds.
Leading the team in points was Tabby Henle, who has shown a lot of improvement throughout the season.
Henle was good on three-of-three attempts from the arc.
Leading the team in rebounds was Maddie Stewart who recorded eight, along with steals with five.
