The Mount Ayr Raider wrestlers traveled to Central Decatur for the second meet of the season, where they placed 15th overall, out of 17 teams.
Despite the low team finish, the Raiders did produce a first place champion in the 106 pound category with number two state ranked wrestler at the weight, in Brock Shaha (3-0).
Shaha received a bye in the first round before winning by fall over Levi Webb of Martensdale-St. Marys.
In the semifinal round, Shaha won by fall over Judah Gurwell of Winterset by fall after a battle that lasted 4:48.
In the first place match-up, Shaha defeated Ottumwa’s Logan Hubbell by fall in 57 seconds.
At 126 pounds, Nathan Mederos (0-2) fell in 40 seconds to Panorama’s Blake Schwartz and then to Gus Oesch of Central Decatur in 52 seconds.
At 132 pounds, Conlee Stark (2-2) fell by fall in 3:24 to Southeast Warren’s Rylan Jimenez.
Stark saw success in the consolation rounds, defeating Maddox Kountz of Mid-Buchanan by an 8-2 decision.
In round two, Stark defeated Ottumwa’s Jonathan Wailes by fall in 4:35.
The day ended for Stark in the third round to Bedford’s Dalton Swartz by a 16-9 decision.
At 145 pounds, Tegan Hill (2-2) fell in round one in 1:22 to Albia’s Bode Thompson.
Hill was able to battle his way back in the consolation rounds, defeating Cooper Horton of Central Decatur by fall in 1:00 and Wayne’s Xabian Hawkins by fall in 4:29.
In round three, Hill fell to Cody Morgan of Central Decatur by fall in 3:37.
At 170 pounds, Bracken Collier (1-2) fell to Bedford’s Izaak Dukes by fall in 2:39.
Collier received a bye in round one of consolation before defeating Brannon Flattery of Ottumwa by fall in 4:34.
Collier’s day ended with a loss to Panorama’s Keyton Van Gunday by fall in 3:08.
At 195 pounds, Allen Jennings (0-2) fell in the opening round to Neo Guida of Ottumwa in 48 seconds.
Jennings received two byes before falling in 1:25 to Central Decaturs Cutter Frisbie.
