Mount Ayr 56, Wayne 45
It was a tough outing against the Falcons last week for the Raiderettes but timely halftime adjustments made by the Raiderettes allowed for the Mount Ayr girls to claim victory over the Lady Falcons that was led by a Tegan Streit offensive attack that recorded 15 points, which included two three-pointers and seven-of-nine free throws.
The offense also saw sophomore standout Breya Nickle add 13 points and five other Raiderettes with buckets.
“Our girls came up with some good changes at halftime and they executed it pretty well,” said coach Thad Streit. “I felt that was key to the rest of the game.”
The Raiderette defense was stingy, recording 11 steals and 26 rebounds, 18 of which were defensive.
The Raiderettes started the game off strong, taking 9-0 lead before the Lady Falcons were able to get on the board.
Wayne battled back in that first quarter, down 13-6 before the buzzer saw the Lady Falcons down only one point, 13-12.
The Raiderettes, once again, extended their lead 20-12 and Wayne, yet again, closed the deficit and trailed at halftime, 29-23.
“Wayne looked really good on film. They are fast, they are aggressive and they didn’t do their 2-2-1 press tonight,” said coach Streit. “The girls deserve credit. It’s really good when you have kids on the floor that can act like assistant coaches, can see the floor and make their own adjustments.”
The third quarter saw the Raiderette adjustments work after outscoring the Lady Falcons by the largest gap of the game, 15-9.
Mount Ayr entered the fourth quarter with a 44-32 lead, the largest of the game.
The Raiderettes kept things tight and defeated the Lady Falcons 56-45 to improve to 6-1 on the season.

Mount Ayr 47, Worth County 46
Mount Ayr traveled south of the border Monday night to face the Worth County Tigers.
The Raiderettes were in charge for the first half, but the second proved to be a little trickier as the Tigers adjustments kept the Mount Ayr girls on their heels.
“I am proud of our girls for hanging on in a rough game and it got tight in the end,” said coach Streit. “Things didn’t go our way in the second-half but we kept battling.”
It was a tale of two halves as the Raiderettes held a 36-24 lead over the Tigers after the first two quarters, however, in the second-half, the Raiderettes could only find 11 total points, while the girls of Worth County put up 22.
At the end of the contest and the dust settled, Mount Ayr was victor by only one point.
Jillian Kniep led the team with 13 points, the only Raiderette in double digit scoring.
MaKenna Jones led the team in steals with three of the teams 10.
