The Raider baseball team played one game this week out of their two scheduled, due to weather postponing their game against the Wayne Falcons that was supposed to take place on Tuesday.
The Raiders faced off against Nodaway Valley on Friday night in Greenfield, where the bottom of the lineup helped Mount Ayr capture a 12-7 victory over the Wolverines.
Jaixen Frost led the Raiders on the offensive side, having a strong eye at the plate in the win, as the Wolverines walked him three times in five plate appearances.
The Raiders took the lead in the top of the second inning after Jaize Frost scored after tagging up on a fly ball, Alder Reed singled scoring three runs, a dropped third strike scored one run, and Conlee Stark drew a walk, scoring one run.
An error on the Wolverines side extended the Raiders lead to 9-2 after the third inning, where Mount Ayr was able to bring in three runs.
Jaixen Frost later hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the fifth inning, being the only run to score in the fifth, putting the Raiders up 10-2 after five.
The Wolverines were not finished though as they went on a five run rally in the bottom of the sixth inning, tightening the score between themselves and the Raiders to 11-7 after six.
Adler Reed, the number nine hitter for the Raiders, was a force in the Raiders lineup with two runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-4 on the evening.
Mount Ayr had a good eye at the plate overall, collecting 10 walks for the game.
The Raiders piled up seven stolen bases for the game where Jaixen Frost, Rowan Sackett, and Riley Stark each stole multiple bases on Nodaway Valley.
Adler Reed, Tate Dugan, and Riley Stark were also very disciplined at the plate where they were able to combine for five of the team’s eight hits in the victory. They scored four runs and drove in three helping the Raiders pull off a 12-7 win over the Wolverines.
