Glazebrooks answer the call in Mount Ayr, Diagonal Churches

The First Christian Church in Mount Ayr and the United Church of Diagonal have a new shared pastor. Rodney Glazebrook of Osceola began his duties at the churches on July 16. Glazebrook and has wife will live in the First Christian Church parsonage. Glazebrook comes to the county after 15 years of pastoring in both Ohio and Iowa. Prior to entering the full-time ministry, he served as chairman of the Southern Iowa Billy Graham Crusade from 1996-1998. In his letter of application, Glazebrook summarized what drew him to the churches. “One of the primary hallmarks of my ministry is creating a welcoming culture. I believe that a Community of Faith should be a place where everyone can love and be loved; celebrate and be celebrated; know and be known; serve and be served.” Glazebrook said he welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the churches success, ensuring they remain a vibrant and positive influence in the community and a valued stakeholder for the greater Ringgold County area. The search for a new paster at First Christian Church began in January of 2021. The church hand to consider not only the scarcity of qualified candidates but also the financial challenge posed by attracting a full-time minister. First Christian Church search committee chair Angi Dodge reached out to the United Church of Diagonal search chair Becky Johnson to inquire about the possibility of sharing a full-time pastor between the two congregations. The calling of Glazebrook is the fruit of their diligent joint efforts. Members of the First Christian Church search committee included Angi and Darrell Dodge, Mitzi Hymbaugh, Melanie Lane, Bruce and Michell Ricker and Steve Trullinger.
