Greater Regional Health Auxiliary recently awarded five $1000.00 scholarships to area applicants pursuing careers in health care. Recipients included Mount Ayr senior Liliana Aguilar, who plans to attend Southwestern Community College.
Aguilar will also join the Southwestern Community College Dazzlers dance team beginning with the fall 2024 semester.
Aguilar has been part of the Mount Ayr High School dance team that has brought home two second-place finishes at the Iowa State Dance and Drill Team Association’s state championships. She was a member of the All-Iowa Honor Dance Team as well.
Coach Paige Russo is excited to have Aguilar’s talent on the team.
“Liliana is determined and such an amazing performer on the floor,” said Russo. “We look forward to having her energy as a part of the team!”
In addition to Aguilar’s dance honors, Julian Aguilar and Martina Preciado daughter has been named to the Mount Ayr High School honor roll.
Four additional seniors pursuing careers in health care also received scholarships from Greater Regional Health Auxiliary.
Creston seniors Dillon Starlin, Brennan Hayes, and Rylie Driskell were awarded $1000 each.
Starlin plans to attend Southwestern Community College, Hayes is headed to Wayne State College, and Driskell is currently attending University of Northern Iowa.
Greenfield senior Ellie Brewer, also received a scholarship and plans to attend University of Northern Iowa.
