Ringgold County Hospital’s board of trustees met Monday, April 28.
They welcomed new board member Scott Giles, who is completing the unexpired term of Chris Eaton and heard the 2026 Fiscal year budget proposal presented by Clint Reynolds, CFO. With CEO Nicky Gilbertson gone until May 2, Reynolds and Amy Mobley are covering those duties.
Mobley reported an Emergency Department acute provider has been offered a position, that position has been accepted and the pre-employment process has started.
The board of trustees’ finance and budget committee met on April 11 and information for the proposed public hearing was submitted and published on the 28th. The public hearing was held prior to the April regular board meeting.
In the budget proposal presentation, board members heard the tax levy history which cited Ringgold County Hospital as ranking 24th out of 44 hospitals in terms of dollars levied for fiscal year end June 30, 2025. In keeping the 3.69418 tax levy rate the same as the last two years, the total levied dollars for fiscal year end June 30, 2026, will be $1,634,943. This rate is consistent with fiscal years 24/25 and will result in an increase of $55,037 from the current fiscal year due to property value increases. The proposed tax levy reflects 40% of the tax levy available. Total county budget expenditures proposed are $29,706,012. Total operating revenue proposed is $30,524,800. It was noted that tax dollars reflect roughly 5% of total revenue budgeted. A proposed 3% wage increase for all employees not specifically on a performance plan will take effect September 1 as part of the proposed budget. The board adopted the budget as proposed.
In other news the board was informed that updates have been finalized for the hospital’s disaster plan and RCH looks to host a community wide event for other community leaders regarding disaster plan policies and providing information for those interested.
