MOUNT AYR, Iowa — The residents of Mount Ayr and surrounding communities are fortunate to have a library that provides multiple events throughout the calendar year. ThisOn December 2, “Toddler Time” saw Santa and Mrs. Claus come to visit the children. The event was co-hosted by the library and SWCC’s Parent as Teachers program.
The excited children took turns climbing on Santa and Mrs. Claus’s laps for a private chat. It wasn’t a surprise when adults Henry and Darby Groszkruger stopped by to see Santa too!
Parent Teacher Educator, Tara Steinbach, provided the necessary materials for the children to create colorful Christmas wreaths to take home.Library Board President Lynne Wallace provided an engaging reading experience for the children this day, and throughout future scheduled events.
The library’s children section was recently remodeled with direction from Iowa State students and their professor. Through an anonymous donation, and secured grant, recommendations made by the Iowa State students were implemented. Young patrons are now welcomed to an open inviting space with lots of primary colors, fun, appropriated sized furniture, an activity board, a colorful rug to sit on for story time, a mural, and so much more.
“Toddler Time” is scheduled for the first Tuesday of each month (weather permitting), from 5 to 5:30 p.m. at the library.
