Obituary: Mark Allen Erickson

Mark Allen Erickson, son of Robert Allen Erickson and Shirley Ann (Strange) Erickson was born July 5, 1959, in Creston, Iowa and passed from this life Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Kavanagh on 56th in Des Moines at 66 years of age.
Mark grew up in Mt. Ayr where he graduated from high school; he went on to SWCC where he graduated with an Associate’s Degree.  He began working for Jimmy Dean in the early 80s, when they closed, he went to work for Colonial Bread in Des Moines, later he began working for the Clarke County Hospital in the maintenance department.  He retired as Supervisor after over 30 years.
Mark was a loving and caring family man.  When he was younger, he was a Boy Scout; he enjoyed working on his tractors and was a member of the Clarke County Old Iron Club.  He enjoyed the outdoors; he was a Master Gardener and enjoyed his garden.  Mark enjoyed sharp shooting, he loved riding his Harley.  He was a member of the Mount Ayr Volunteer Fire Department and was certified as a rescue scuba diver.  Mark will be greatly missed.
Family preceding Mark in death were his baby son, Jacobie Allen Erickson, and his father, Robert Allen Erickson.
Mark leaves to cherish his memory; wife, Brenda Erickson of New Virginia, mother, Shirley Erickson of Mount Ayr, daughter, Alexi Elizabeth Erickson of Des Moines, daughter, Toriann Nichole Erickson and her husband Brandon Erickson of Des Moines, grandsons, Myles Allen Carter Erickson, Eliot J. Foster Erickson, and Brylen Alexander Erickson as well as other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Tuesday March 31, 2026, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Chuck DeVos officiating.
Mark’s family will greet friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2026, at Kale Funeral Home.

Interment will be in the New Virginia Cemetery.
