Raiderettes take second at East Union Shaffer claims medalist

AFTON, Iowa — The East Union tournament featured five Pride of Iowa conference schools battling for the team title last Tuesday. There, the Raiderettes golf team placed second with a team score of 206. Martensdale-St. Marys was the meet champion with a score of 193.
Jaylee Shaffer remains red-hot, winning another medalist honor with a score of 35. The runner-up medalist was Martensdale-St. Mary’s Kathryn Ballard who was a distant second with a score of 42.
The Raiderettes struggled with their scores at the meet as Mount Ayr could not get another score under 55 in their remaining players. Three Raiderette scores were in the 50-60 score range. Izzy Gilbertson was second on the Raiderettes scoring with a 55 followed by Claire Routh with a 57 and Abby Larson with a 59. Other Mount Ayr scores were Alyssa Doolittle 65 and Dallas Newton 74.
Martensdale-St. Mary’s had two other scores of 50 or less to aid Ballard’s runner-up medalist honors. Carly Franey was next for MTSM with a score of 48 and Carly Krogman was third on the team with a score of 50.
SE Warren was led by scores from Emma Manser with a 53 and Jessica Lillig with a score of 54. Wayne was led by Elizabeth Buttz with a score of 66, Jadelyn Schrodt with a score of 68 and London Everman with a score of 68. East Union had a lot of players at the state FFA conference and had only three available players. Kathryn Lack led the Eagles in scoring with a 45 followed by Gwen Nixon with a 57 and Willa Hayes with a score of 57.
