The Mount Ayr boy’s track and field team had to hold off the pesky Lenox Tigers at the 2025 Pride of Iowa Conference track meet last week at Nodaway Valley.
The Raiders won five events and scored 137.5 team points. Lenox was second with a team score of 136, behind five event wins of their own. Nodaway Valley was third in the team race with 91 points.
The relay events were all Raiders as Mount Ayr won four relays and were a runner-up in another. The Raiders relays all placed in the top-5.
Mount Ayr won the 4×100-meter relay in 45.12, the 4×200-meter relay in 1:34.27, the 4×400-meter relay in 3:34.23, and the spring medley relay in 1:39.55. The Raiders were second in the distance medley relay in a time of 3:52.82.
Mount Ayr’s Dyson Thompson also won the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.55. Teammate Garrett Walter was second in the 100-meter dash in 11.64 and the 200-meter dash in 23.05. Walter also placed third in the 400-meter dash in a time of 52.27.
Jackson Ruggles added a runner-up finish in the 400-meter dash in 51.20 and a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 23.70. Brock Shaha was fourth in the 3,200-meter run in 11:37.47. Isac Dugan also had a top-5 finish in the 110-meter high hurdles.
In field events, Mount Ayr was led by fourth-place finishes by Adler Reed in the high jump and Dyson Thompson in the long jump. Rowan Sackett, Trevin Victor, Ethan Johns, Kellon Shaffer, each had a top-10 finish in the field events.
