MOUNT AYR, Iowa — The second meet of a busy week saw the Raiders track and field team host the Dave Still/Mark Larsen Relays with a 12-team turnout. The top-3 teams were separated by only 1.5 points in the final team standings. Lenox won the meet with a team score of 107 points, while runner-up Interstate-35 had 106 points and third place finishing team Albis was third with 105.5 points. Mount Ayr was also right there, placing fourth with 101 points.
Mount Ayr won three events including breaking a meet record. The Raiders 4×200-meter relay team of Drayden Thompson, Calvin Main, Tate Dugan and Jackson Ruggles won the event in a time of 1:32.20. That time is fifth all-time in Mount Ayr program history and is currently ranked 6th in Class 1A.
The Raiders also won the shuttle hurdle relay with the team of Ruggles, Michael Adkisson, Isac Dugan and Main in a time of 1:06.57.
Thompson won the only individual event at the meet for the Raiders in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.63.
In field events, Mount Ayr was led by a runner-up finish in the shot put by Rowan Sackett. Sackett had a best throw of 44-feet, 8.25-inches. Kellon Shaffer placed fifth in the discus and eighth in the shot put. Logan Mercer and Jesse Shelman each had top-10 field event finishes.
The Raiders had a handful of top-five finishes in individual events led by Ruggles finishing second in the 400-meter hurdles in 58.77. Main and Adkisson were third and fourth in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.93 and 19.15. Hyde was fourth in the 200-meter dash in 24.33. Tate Dugan had a pair of top-5 finishes with a fifth place finish in the 100-meter dash in 12.04 and in the 200-meter dash in 24.36.
