E.P. BENTLEY

E.P. BENTLEY WAS BORN IN WASHINGTON COUNTY, IOWA, OCTOBER 11, 1870 AND DIED NOVEMBER 29, 1900 AT GRAINFIELD, KS, AFTER AN ILLNESS OF TEN DAYS.  HE WAS CONFINED TO HIS BED BUT TWO DAYS, DEATH RESULTING FROM MALARIAL FEVER.  THE DECEASED CAME TO RINGGOLD COUNTY WITH HIS PARENTS, MR. AND MRS. A. M. BENTLEY IN 1876 AND RESIDED IN GRANT TOWNSHIP UNTIL THE SPRING OF 1898, WHEN HE REMOVED TO KANSAS.  HE WAS UNMARRIED.  AT THE AGE OF 12 HE WAS CONVERTED AND UNITED WITH THE METHODIST CHURCH, SINCE WHICH TIME HE HAS LIVED A CONSISTENT CHRISTIAN LIFE.  HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE K. OF P. ORDER AND MODERN WOODMEN, CARRYING $1,000 INSURANCE IN THE LATTER FRATERNITY.  HE WAS A YOUNG MAN OF EXEMPLARY HABITS AND CHRISTIAN CHARACTER AND HIS UNTIMELY DEATH WILL BE DEEPLY MOURNED.  THE FUNERAL SERVICES WERE CONDUCTED FROM THE METHODIST CHURCH IN DIAGONAL AT 11 O’CLOCK A.M. SUNDAY, DECEMBER 2, BY REV. J.D. SPARKS.  THE INTERMENT WAS MADE IN THE BETHEL CEMETERY.
