DAVID MCLAUGHLIN

DAVID MCLAUGHLIN WAS BORN IN ONTARIO, DOMINION OF CANADA, NOVEMBER 30, 1832.  IN SPRING OF 1895, HE CAME TO THE UNITED STATES, SETTLING NEAR MONMOUTH, IL., AND REMOVING FROM THERE TO RINGGOLD COUNTY, IN THE FALL OF THE SAME YEAR.  HERE HE LIVED UNTIL HIS DEATH, MARCH 8, 1901, AGED 68 YEARS, THREE MONTHS AND EIGHT DAYS.  JULY 1, 1856, HE WAS MARRIED TO MARY A. WILEY. FROM THIS UNION WERE BORN SEVEN CHILDREN, THREE OF WHOM DIED BEFORE HE DID, AND TWO SONS AND TWO DAUGHTERS ARE LEFT TO MOURN HIS LOSS.  HIS WIFE DIED SEPTEMBER 29, 1892, GREATLY MOURNED BY FAMILY.  HE UNITED WITH THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF CANADA AT AN EARLY AGE AND MAINTAINED AN ACTIVE CHRISTIAN LIFE UNTIL HIS DEATH.  HE WAS ACTIVE IN SUNDAY SCHOOL UNTIL HIS LAST ILLNESS, INTERESTED IN THE CHILDREN AND LOVED THEM.  A WIDE CIRCLE OF FRIENDS REGRET THEIR LOSS.  FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD AT WANAMAKER CONDUCTED BY THE EVANGELICAL PASTOR, AND AT DIAGONAL MONDAY, CONDUCTED BY REV. SPARKS. INTERMENT WAS MADE IN THE KNOWLTON CEMETERY.
