ALICE GARDNER HOSFIELD

MRS. G. L. HOSFIELD DIED AT HER HOME IN POE TOWNSHIP SATURDAY EVENING, APRIL 6, FROM HEART FAILURE, SUPERINDUCED BY MEASLES, HER ILLNESS HAVING LASTED LESS THAN A WEEK.  SHE WAS BORN MARCH 26, 1863 IN CANADA, HER MAIDEN NAME, ALICE GARDNER.  SHE CAME TO ILLINOIS WITH HER PARENTS WHILE YOUNG AND REMOVED WITH THEM TO IOWA IN 1878. SHE WAS MARRIED IN CASS COUNTY, MARCH 8, 1883, TO GEORGE L. HOSFIELD, AND TO THEM WERE BORN FOUR CHILDREN ALL OF WHOM ARE LIVING.  THEY CAME TO RINGGOLD COUNTY IN 1896, SETTLING IN POE TOWNSHIP, WHERE THEY HAVE SINCE RESIDED.  MRS. HOSFIELD UNITED WITH THE METHODIST CHURCH WHEN EIGHT YEARS OF AGE AND WAS A FAITHFUL MEMBER AND LOVED ITS MINISTRATIONS.  SHE WAS A DEVOTED WIFE AND MOTHER AND HER UNTIMELY DEATH IS AN IRREPARABLE LOSS TO THE FAMILY.  SHE LEAVES A SORROWING HUSBAND, FOUR CHILDREN AND A FATHER AND MOTHER, FIVE SISTERS AND TWO BROTHERS TO MOURN HER DEMISE.  THE FUNERAL WAS CONDUCTED FROM THE METHODIST CHURCH YESTERDAY AFTERNOON BY HER PASTOR REV. P.V.D. VEDDER.  THE M.W. OF A. LODGE OF WHICH HER HUSBAND WAS A MEMBER ATTENDED IN A BODY.  THE INTERMENT WAS MADE IN THE ROSE HILL CEMETERY.
