N.C. GERMAN

N.C. GERMAN, SON OF MR. AND MRS. JOHN GERMAN, DIED ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON AT THE GERMAN HOUSE AFTER A LONG AND LINGERING ILLNESS.  HIS DEATH CAME AS A SEVERE SHOCK TO HIS FRIENDS, ALTHOUGH FOR A LONG TIME THEY HAVE ENTERTAINED NO HOPE OF HIS ULTIMATE RECOVERY.  HE WAS TAKEN ILL OVER A YEAR AGO WITH CONSUMPTION AND HAS BEEN GRADUALLY DECLINING.  THIS SUMMER HE TOOK A TRIP BY WAGON TO COLORADO AND THROUGH SEVERAL OF THE WESTERN STATES IN THE HOPES  THAT HIS HEALTH WOULD BE BENEFITTED. HIS FATHER ACCOMPANIED HIM ON THE GREATER PORTION OF THE TRIP, BUT CAME HOME A MONTH BEFORE HE DID.  ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO MR. GERMAN REACHED FORT DODGE, KANSAS, ON HIS HOMEWARD TRIP WHERE HE WAS TAKEN ILL. HERE HE WAS MET BY HIS FATHER AND BROUGHT HOME AND HAD BEEN HERE ABOUT TWO WEEKS WHEN DEATH’S SUMMON CAME.  MR. GERMAN WAS BORN IN PEORA COUNTY, IL., ON APRIL 18, 1866.  HE CAME WITH HIS PARENTS TO RINGGOLD COUNTY IN 1868 AND HAS RESIDED IN MOUNT AYR SINCE 1880.  SOME SIX YEARS AGO HE UNITED WITH THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH AND HAS SINCE BEEN IDENTIFIED WITH THAT ORGANIZATION.  THE FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD ON SUNDAY AND WERE CONDUCTED FROM THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH BY REV. L.C. SWAN.  HE LEAVES A WIFE AND TWO CHILDREN TO MOURN HIS DEATH.  HIS PARENTS AND THE BREAVED WIFE HAVE THE SINCERE SYMPATHY OF ALL THEIR FRIENDS.  MR. AND MRS. GERMAN HAVE BEEN SORELY AFFLICTED IN THE LOSS OF THEIR CHILDREN.  FOUR OTHERS HAVE PASSED BEYOND LIFE’S TURMOILS, AND IN THE DEATH OF THEIR ELDEST SON THE TENDEREST SYMPATHY IS EXPRESSED BY ALL.
