Margaret Jane Bratton Wilber

Margaret Jane Bratton Wilber was born in Ohio, June 23, 1841, and departed this life October 15, 1918, aged 77 years, three months and eighteen days. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Bratton, deceased.

When about 10 years of age she removed with her parents to Jones County Iowa where on November 28, 1860, she was married to John T. Wilber of Wyoming, Iowa. To this union were born six children: Angeline, William, Martha, John, Nora and Fred, three of whom have preceded her in death, Angeline, John and Fred. There were also twenty grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren, besides four brothers and three sisters: John Bratton, Butler, MO.; W.F. Bratton of Gridley, CO.; George Bratton of Haines, OR.; T.D. Bratton of Summerfield, KS.; Mrs. Hannah Wherry of Lenox, IA.; Martha Lunn of Denver, CO.; Mary Henry, Sterling, KS.

Early in life she united with the United Presbyterian Church. When moving to this community she transferred her membership to the M.E. Church near Knowlton, later transfering her membership to the First Presbyterian Church of Diagonal, of which she was a member at the time of her death. She was also a member the W. C. T. U. of this place.

She leaves to mourn her death one son and two daughters: W. B. Wilber of Diagonal; Mrs. Martha Graves of Haxtum, CO. and Nora Woods of LeMars, Iowa. And other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church and the body was laid to rest at Knowlton Cemetery.
