In January, 1854, she was united in marriage to Andrew J. Gillett.  The same year they moved to Iowa, locating at Iowa City for the winter at which place their oldest son, A.S. Gillett, was born.  In the spring of 1855 this couple moved to Ringgold County, where they pre-empted land and established their home which is now one of the oldest in Ringgold County.  To this union were born thirteen children, one dying in infancy the other twelve growing to womanhood and manhood.  At an early age she united with the Christian Church, being a consistent and faithful member to the last, often expressing her faith and was ever ready and waiting her summons.

Her husband and four children have preceded her to the beyond.  There are left to mourn her departure A.S.  Gillett, Athol, S.D.; Alice L. Buell, Davis City, IA.; A.J. Gillett, Olivet, S.D.; Dame P. Dearest mother, thou has left us  And our loss we deeply feel.  But since ’twas God who befert us   He can all our sorrows heal.
