MARION MILDRED DAY SMITH

MARION MILDRED DAY WAS BORN IN LYNN COUNTY, KANSAS, AT PLEASANTON, JULY 27, 1872, AND GREW TO WOMANHOOD THERE. SHE WAS THE YOUNGEST DAUGHTER OF N.F. AND MARY J. DAY AND MARRIED TO LEWIS H. SMITH ON DECEMBER 23, 1888. SHE WAS CONVERTED AND UNITED WITH THE METHODIST CHURCH AT THE AGE OF FOURTEEN YEARS. AFTER EIGHT YEARS OF MARRIED LIFE HER HUSBAND ENTERED THE MINISTRY OF THE M.E. CHURCH AND SHE STOOD BY HIM IN ALL THE PROBLEMS OF THE MINISTRY FOR TWENTY-TWO YEARS. SHE GRACED THE PARSONAGES OF THE CHARGES THAT SHE AND HER HUSBAND SERVED WITH CHRISTIAN CHARACTER AND A GLADLY LIFE. SHE DEPARTED THIS LIFE FROM THE METHODIST PARSONAGE IN ELLSTON, IOWA DECEMBER 13, 1918, AT TEN O’CLOCK IN THE MORNING.

TO THEM WERE BORN TWO DAUGHTERS, MRS. KATHERINE ANDERSON, OF CHARITON AND AUDREY THOMAS OF TINGLEY, AND THEY WITH A DEVOTED HUSBAND ARE LEFT TO MOURN THEIR LOSS.  INTERMENT WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE CEMETERY AT CHARITON.
