Howard Curtis German

Howard Curtis German was born at Calendonia, Iowa, December 5, 1896, and departed this life at Benton, IA., December 13, 1918, aged twenty-two years and seven days.  He had been confined to the house for several days with the Spanish influenza which developed into pneumonia fever on Wednesday before his death on Thursday night. He leaves to mourn his loss two sisters, Mrs. Ben Baker of Edmonds, N.D., and Mrs. Ray Shields of Watterson, Iowa, one brother, L.E. German of Camp Dodge, two half brothers, Guy and Cleo of Benton and a host of other relatives and friends. Short services were held at the home of his uncle, G.M. German, and the body was taken to Ringgold Cemetery where it was laid to rest by the side of his father, mother and two brothers, Clifford and Harold.
