ANDREW ALBERT HUNTER

ANDREW ALBERT HUNTER WAS BORN IN EDGAR COUNTY, IL., DECEMBER 1, 1851, AND DIED AT HIS FARM FOUR MILES WEST OF SHANNON CITY, IOWA, DECEMBER 5, 1920, AGED 69 YEARS AND 5 DAYS.

HE CAME WITH HIS PARENTS TO LUCAS COUNTY IN 1854 AND FROM THERE TO RINGGOLD COUNTY IN 1861, AND WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A VERY FEW YEARS HAS MADE HIS HOME ON THE FARM THEY AT THAT TIME BEGAN TO IMPROVE, AND WHERE HIS DEATH OCCURRED.

HE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO MISS MARGARET SIMPSON NOVEMBER 12, 1894. TO THIS UNION WAS BORN ONE CHILD, MRS. ANNA MARTIN, WHO SURVIVES HER PARENTS, MRS. HUNTER HAVING PASSED FROM THIS LIFE IN JUNE 1920.

DECEASED WAS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE I.O.O.F. LODGE AND WAS A CHARTER MEMBER OF SHANNON CITY LODGE NO. 559, OF WHICH HE WAS CHAPLAIN AT THE TIME OF HIS DEATH.

HE MOVED TO SHANNON CITY, MARCH 1, 1914, BUT DURING HIS RESIDENCE HERE MUCH OF HIS TIME WAS SPENT ON THE FARM.

OF THE NEAR RELATIVES THERE REMAIN LIVING, HIS DAUGHTER, MRS. ANNA MARTIN AND TWO CHILDREN, ONE SISTER, MRS. SUE M. CARGILL, AND TWO BROTHERS, J.W., OF SHANNON CITY AND EDGAR, OF SUMNER COUNTY KANSAS.

FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD AT THE UNITED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH IN SHANNON CITY, IOWA, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 9, 1920 AT 2 O’CLOCK P.M. CONDUCTD BY REV. CARNAHAN, AND THE REMAINS WERE LAID TO REST IN THE HARMONY CEMETERY.
