PETER NICHOLAS ROBINSON

PETER NICHOLAS ROBINSON WAS BORN NEAR INDIANAPOLIS, JOHNSON COUNTY, INDIANA, SEPTEMBER 13, 1858 AND DEPARTED THIS LIFE NOVEMBER 23, 1920 AT THE AGE OF 62 YEARS, 2 MONTHS AND 10 DAYS.

AT THE AGE OF FIVE YEARS HIS FATHER DIED, LEAVING HIS MOTHER WITH FOUR SMALL CHILDREN. SOON AFTER SHE MOVED TO A FARM IN JEFFERSON COUNTY, IOWA, WHERE THE CHILDREN GREW TO MATURITY. HERE ON DECEMBER 26, 1878 HE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO ELIZABETH A. DOUGHTY WHO SURVIVES HIM. TO THIS UNION WERE BORN SEVEN CHILDREN, 5 SONS, AND 2 DAUGHTERS AS FOLLOWS: HOMER WHO DIED IN INFANCY, MRS. MABEL STEPHENS OF BLOCKTON; ROSS OF BILLINGS, MT.; MRS. MAUDE ROBBINS, ROY AND CLARENCE OF GOLDEN CITY, MO. HE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY TWO SISTERS, MRS. ANGIE HILL OF ROCK RAPIDS, IOWA AND MRS. MARTHA NIMOCKS OF HOISINGTON, KS.  THERE ARE ALSO NINETEEN GRANDCHILDREN AND A HOST OF OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. IN 1889 HE MOVED TO MOUNT AYR, IOWA, WHERE HE LIVED UNTIL 1907 WHEN HE MOVED TO DADE COUNTY, MO., WHERE HE RESIDED AT THE TIME OF HIS DEATH. EARLY IN LIFE HE WAS CONVERTED AND WITH UNITED THE M. E. CHURCH.

IT CAN HARDLY BE SAID HE WAS A TRUE AND FAITHFUL HUSBAND AND GOOD FATHER. ALTHOUGH SUFFERING GREATLY FOR THE LAST YEAR, HE BORE HIS AFFLICTION PATIENTLY AND WAS READY AND WILLING TO GO.

ALL THE CHILDREN WERE PRESENT FOR THE LAST SAD RITES AND HE WAS LAID TO REST IN THE CEMETERY NEAR HIS HOME AT DUDENVILLE, MO. ON THANKSGIVING DAY.
