MARY GRAHAM HOFFINE

MRS. I.C. HOFFINE, WIFE OF I.C. HOFFINE, AFTER AN ILLNESS WHICH HAD CONFINED HER TO HER BED FOR MORE THAN THREE YEARS, DIED AT HER HOME IN BEACONSFIELD ON FEBRUARY 28. MRS. HOFFINE WAS BORN IN BROOKVILLE, IL., MARCH 21, 1849. AS MARY GRAHAM, HER MAIDEN NAME, SHE WAS REARED IN A DEVOUT LUTHERN HOME AND UNITED WITH THE LUTHERAN CHURCH ABOUT THE YEAR 1880. ON MARCH 13, 1868, SHE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO MR. ISAAC HOFFINE AND TO THAT UNION WERE BORN TWO DAUGHTERS AND SIX SONS, ALL OF WHOM TODAY LAMENT THE LOSS OF THEIR DEAR MOTHER, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ONE SON WHO HAS GONE ON BEFORE. IN ADDITION TO THE TWO DAUGHTERS AND FIVE SONS, WITH SEVEN GRANDSONS AND ONE GREAT-GRANDDAUGHTER, SHE LEAVES HER HUSBAND, TWO SISTERS AND THREE BROTHERS TO LAMENT HER DEPARTURE.  IN 1889 SHE UNITED WITH THE METHODIST CHURCH AT BEACONSFIELD AND REMAINED A FAITHFUL MEMBER UNITL NOW WHEN SHE HAS GONE TO JOIN THE CHURCH TRIUMHANT WHICH IS “WITHOUT FAULT BEFORE THE THRONE OF GOD.”  PATIENT THROUGH HER LONG ILLNESS, NEVER COMPLAINING; ALWAYS SPEAKING GOOD OF THOSE AROUND HER, AND CONSIDERATE OF THE SHORTCOMINGS OF OTHERS; THE LIFE OD MRS. HOFFINE WAS A BEAUTIFUL ONE. FUNERAL SERVICES WERE CONDUCTED BY THE PASTOR THURSDAY AFTERNOON IN THE CHURCH. THE FUNERAL PROCESSION THEN WOUND ITS WAY TO THE ELLSTON CEMETERY, WHERE THE BODY WAS LAID IN ITS FINAL RESTING PLACE. “BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO DIE IN THE LORD.”
