Austin W. Skinner

Austin W. Skinner was born February 17, 1859, at Erie, PA., and passed away on April 30, 1924, at Kansas City, MO.  He moved at an early age to Ashtabula, OH., and at the age of nineteen years to Kellerton, IA.  He was united in marriage to Mary Sheldon May 23, 1880. To this union was born five children, one son Austin and four daughters, Lilla, Ellen, Mae and Bernice.  Of this loving family the mother and two elder daughters, Lilla and Ellen have gone before.  The past two years he has been a faithful student of Christian Science and found the faith which gave him comfort and hope he had long desired.  Until the time of his last illness he was a faithful attendant at the Sunday and midweek services of the First Church of Christ Scientist, first in Denver and later in Kansas City.  His last message to his children was: “I know all is well with me.”  The body was brought to Kellerton Friday evening and the funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at two o’clock at the Christian Church conducted by the pastor, Rev. J.C. Harris, and interment made in Maple Row Cemetery.
