Miller, was born in Rockbridge County, VA, October 27, 1854, and departed this life at his home in Blockton, IA, Friday, May 16, 1924, at twelve o’clock noon, aged 69 years, 6 months and 19 days.  In the fall of 1856 at the age of two years he with his parents moved to Worth County, MO., later moved to Ringgold County, IA, where on October 9, 1878, he was united in marriage to Mary A. Beeson.  To this union two children were born: Jessie P. Saville, of Blockton and Bessie M., who died in infancy.  Mr. Miller was one of Ringgold County’s most successful pioneer farmers and stockmen.  In 1905 he and his wife moved to Blockton, where they have since resided.  He had been in poor health for the past two years, his last illness extending over three months.  He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, daughter, Mrs. J.A. Saville, and husband; six sisters and five brothers and numerous other relatives and a host of friends.  Mr. Miller never united with the church visible.  About three months ago in conversation with Rev. Brownlee he became concerned about his soul and on Monday before his death on Friday, he accepted Christ as his Saviour.  Funeral services were held at the Christian Church Sunday afternoon at two o’clock, conducted by Rev. J.A. Brownlee, pastor of the Blockton Methodist Church and interment was made in Rose Hill Cemetery.
