John Agnew Buchanan

John Agnew Buchanan was born in Butler County, PA., near Harrisville March 13, 1858, and died at his home near Tingley, IA., June 4, 1924, aged 66 years, 2 months and 21 days.  He came to Iowa in 1876 and was united in marriage to Miss Rebecca Bailey, November 5, 1879, who survives him. To this union were born C.D. Buchanan of Des Moines, P.R. of Tingley, Mrs. Lois Osborne of Mount Ayr, Mrs. Zella Warner, now deceased, who left two children John and Irene, whom he cared for as his own. He leaves one other grandchild, also a brother, W.J. Buchanan and a sister, Miss Belle Buchanan of Clarinda, as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was a life long member of the United Presbytrian Church and through his illness he often said he was going home.  He met with an accident in 1900 and has been crippled ever since, but his last illness was of ten moths duration but he bore it with patience.  He was a member of the Modren Woodman of America.  The children were all faithful in caring for him.  Gone where sickness and pain come never … To the beautiful land of rest and song:  To hills afar bright crowned forever … Where only happiness and joy belong.
