M.V. Hopkins

M.V. Hopkins, one of the aged and most highly respected citizens of Lotts Creek Township, passed away at his home near Watterson Friday, June 13, aged 83 years, nine months, and 26 days.  He was born in Morgan County, IL., and early in life came to Ringgold County.  He married Miss Margaret Jarred, of Ringgold County, and to this union one son was born, Fred M. Hopkins (deceased.)  He leave to mourn his loss a loving and faithful wife, one daughter, and three granddaughters, three brothers and two sisters and a host of friends.  the surviving brothers and sisters are George of Grant City, MO; C.E. of Stockton, KS; C.C. of Arga, KS; Mrs. Lue Haggans, of Ringgold County; and Mrs. Rachel Kimblade of Yates Center, KS.  He is also survived by one daughter, Mrs. Nancy Hacker; and three granddaughters, Vesta, Nellie and Esther.  He was a true and faithful Christian and one that was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. For over thirty years he was a faithful member of the Hickory Grove  Church.  Funeral services were held at the Hickory Grove Church June 15, conducted by his pastor and he was laid to rest in the cemetery awaiting the resurrection call of his Saviour in whom he trusted.
