Salathiel V. Graves

Salathiel V. Graves was born in Indiana September 23, 1858 and departed this life July 19, 1924, aged 66 years, 9 months and 26 days.  He was united in marriage to Martha E. McDaniel in 1884.  to this union were born six children, four of whom with his companion have preceded him in death. He is survived by two children, William Ellis of near Watkins, and Mrs. Leone Shaughessey of Delphos, IA.; also two brothers, John W. of McFall and Arthur, of Monte Vista, CO., and many other relatives and friends who will mourn his departure.  Brother Graves made a profession and was baptized by Rev. Oatman in January, 1911, and has lived a very consistent Christian life since that time.  He talked to the writer and to the others many times about what he read and during his long illness he read the Bible completely through.  He was a kind and loving father and a kind neighbor and friend and was very appreciative to his brother, John, who attended his so faithfully in his last days. He had many traits of character worthy of imitation and was a genius in his mechanical profession.  Funeral services were conducted at McFall by Rev. W. A. Hyde in the presence of a large crowd of sympathizing relatives and friends. Interment was made in the Lebanon Cemetery.
