Cora Amanda Ouderkirk Dalton

Cora Amanda Ouderkirk was born in Polk County, IA, August 22, 1869.  She came to Ringgold County with her parents when a small child.  She departed this life September 19, 1924, age 55 years and 28 days.  She was united in marriage to Josiah Dalton February 12, 1889. To this union were born two sons.  One son, Jasper, died in infancy.  Those left to mourn her departure her son, Gail Dalton, and wife and their daughter Dorothy Gail Dalton.  She also leaves to mourn, her aged mother of Benton, IA, and two brothers and one sister: Boyd Ouderkirk of Dubuque, IA; Charles Bondy Ouderkirk of Benton, IA;  Mrs. W H. Fertig of near Benton, and a number of nieces and nephews and neighbors and friends who mourn her departure of this life.  Her greatest aim in life was to do good and to help others.  She has been a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for several years and died in the faith of Jesus and was fully prepared that when her mission on this earth was over, she would dwell with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Her husband preceded her in death a little over four years ago.  Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church in Benton Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock conducted by the pastor, Rev. T. S. Rhoades and the interment was in Benton Cemetery.
