ANNA WEBB VORHIES

ANNA WEBB. DAUGHTER OF HENRY AND ELIZA WEBB, WAS BORN NEAR FAIRFIELD, IA , SEPTEMBER 12, 1863 AND PASSED AWAY FROM THIS LIFE IN THE LUTHERN HOSPITAL  IN DES MOINES, OCTOBER 11, 1924, AGE 61 YEARS AND TWENTY-NINE DAYS.  SHE GREW TO WOMANHOOD IN JEFFERSON COUNTY MOVING TO RINGGOLD COUNTY WITH HER PARENTS IN 1882.  SHE WAS MARRIED TO FRANK VORHIES ON MARCH 4, 1885.  TO THIS UNION WERE BORN TWO SONS, FRED AND WALTER, WHO WITH THE DEVOTED FATHER SURVIVE HER.  WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ONE YEAR SPENT IN CALIFORNIA THE FAMILY HAS LIVED IN THE IMMEDIATE SHANNON NEIGHBORHOOD FOR NEARLY 40 YEARS. SHE UNITED WITH THE METHODIST CHURCH IN EARLY GIRLHOOD AND HAS BEEN CLOSELY IDENTIFIED WITH THE SHANNON CITY CONGREGATION FOR NEARLY 40 YEARS.  BEING A PIONEER IN THIS PORTION OF IOWA , LONG YEARS OF ASSOCIATION HAS CREATED A LARGE CIRCLE OF FRIENDS , WHO WITH THE GRIEF STRICKEN HUSBAND AND SONS MOURN HER  DEPARTURE.  A TRULY DEVOTED WIFE  AND MOTHER HAS PASSED TO HER REWARD AND THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY IS DEEPLY TOUCHED BY THE SENSE OF THEIR LOSS.  THE FUNERAL SERVICE WAS HELD MONDAY AFTERNOON AT 2 O’CLOCK AT THE METHODIST CHURCH CONDUCTED BUY REV. C.H. MARPLE OF REDDING, IA, ASSISTED BY REV. CARNAHAN.  THE ATTENDANCE WAS VERY LARGE, THERE BEING AS MANY ALMOST AS MANY OUTSIDE THE BUILDING AS COULD BE ACCOMODATED INSIDE.  INTERNMEMT WAS MADE IN OAKLAND CEMETERY.
