Carrie Michael Ryan
Carrie Michael Ryan, third son of John and Ellen Ryan, was born at St. Marys, OH, November 20, 1868, and died at Sioux City, IA October 27, 1924, aged 55 years, eleven months and seven days. He came with his parents to Decatur County, IA when a lad of seven. Later he moved with them to Ringgold County where he grew to manhood. Those who knew him tell that he was a jolly, happy lad and as he grew to manhood the same characteristics predominated. Men found him always honest and square in all his dealings, broad in his views, generous, kind and thoughtful of others. A good neighbor and a loyal friend. For the last twenty years he has made his home in and near Sioux City and while chatting with his neighbors on last Monday forenoon the summons came for him to take his departure and without a moment’s warning or time for even a hasty farewell his life went out and the folks with whom he was wont to associate could scarcely believe “Mike’s” journey was ended. He leaves to miss him, his aged father, three sisters and six brothers, nephews, and nieces and a host of friends. The funeral services were conducted from the old home Friday forenoon by the pastor, Rev. A. M. Nichols, and interment was made in Ellston Cemetery near his mother and sister, who have preceded him in death and followed to his last resting place by the sorrowing members of his family and their sympathizing neighbors and friends.
