Maxine Ruth Ross
Maxine Ruth Ross, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Ross, was born, September 2, 1917, and passed away at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston, IA on November 13, 1924, at the age of 7 years, two months and 11 days. She was taken ill on Friday October 31 and was taken to the hospital on Thursday, November 6, where she underwent an operation for appendicitis. Her condition was known to be serious but it was believed that she would recover until Friday. November 13, when she grew steadily worse until 8:05 in the evening when she finally succumbed. Maxine was a bright, lovable little girl, bringing happiness and making friends wherever she went. Her death leaves a place in the home and community that can never be filled. Though it seems almost unbearable that so young and pure a life should be taken the bereaved can only be comforted by knowing she has passed into a better life. She leaves to mourn her departure her father and mother, six brothers, two sisters and a host of friends and schoolmates. Funeral services were held at the home northeast of town on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by Rev. C. R. Dobson of Arispe and interment was made in Maple Row Cemetery in Kellerton.
