NANCY HOCKETT RUSH (JANUARY 21, 1852-APRIL 11, 1929)

NANCY HOCKETT, ELDEST DAUGHTER OF JESSE AND JULIA ANN HOCKETT, WAS BORN IN SALEM, HENRY COUNTY, IOWA, JANUARY 21, 1852 AND DIED APRIL 11, 1929 AGED 77 YEARS, TWO MONTHS AND 29 DAYS.

SHE WAS MARRIED TO THOMAS ARNETT IN THE YEAR 1861. TO THIS UNION ONE CHILD WAS BORN. HE DIED AT THE AGE OF 21 YEARS.

HER EARLY LIFE WAS SPENT IN HENRY COUNTY, IOWA. SHE TAUGHT SCHOOL 20 YEARS IN HENRY AND RINGGOLD COUNTIES.

SHE WAS MARRIED TO JOHN R. RUSH SEPTEMBER 20, 1909. SHE UNITED WITH THE METHODIST CHURCH AT SALEM, HENRY COUNTY, IOWA, WHEN A SMALL CHILD. SHE TRANSFERRED HER MEMBERSHIP TO REDDING, IOWA, IN 1882, AND AFTERWARDS MOVED HER MEMBERSHIP TO EUREKA CHURCH, WHERE SHE TOOK AN ACTIVE PART UNTIL HER HEALTH FAILED HER.

MRS. RUSH LEAVES TO MOURN HER PASSING, HER HUSBAND, JOHN. R. RUSH, AND ONE SISTER, MRS. NETTIE COX, OF SCOTTSVILLE, KS., WHO WAS UNABLE TO ATTEND THE FUNERAL ON ACCOUNT OF FAILING HEALTH. THREE SISTERS AND ONE BROTHER PRECEDED HER IN DEATH, TWO DYING IN INFANCY, AND MRS. B.J. HAMMER AND MR. GEORGE HOCKETT BOTH DYING IN THE PAST YEAR. SHE ALSO LEAVES THREE STEP-CHILDREN, DENNIS RUSH OF BROWNSDALE, MN., SAM RUSH OF ABARR, CO., AND MRS. GEORGE STUCK OF MOLOLLA, OR.

THE FUNERAL SERVICE WAS HELD AT TWO O’CLOCK SUNDAY AFTERNOON IN THE METHODIST CHURCH IN REDDING. REV. THEO KIES, PASTOR AT EUREKA AND FRY CHAPEL CHURCHES, OFFICIATED. REV. F.W. ARNACK, PASTOR OF THE REDDING CHURCH, ASSISTED. BURIAL WAS IN THE REDDING CEMETERY.
