Thomas Albert Rice, son of L. J. and E.M. Rice, was born near Waverly, IL., August 4, 1855. He came with his parents to Ringgold County, Iowa, in May 1869, where he has made his home ever since.
On the evening of April 7, he suffered a stroke of apoplexy from which he died April 8, 1929, being at the time of his death, 73 years, eight months and four days of age. He was a charter member of Modern Woodmen of Ellston Camp No. 5796. Of a family of eleven children, he leaves one brother, H.D. Rice of near High Point; one sister, Mrs. S.A. Fouser of near Ellston, and five nieces and five nephews.
Funeral services were held in the Ellston M.E. Church Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock, by the pastor, Rev. C.R. Saville. Burial was in the Johnston Cemetery.
