CLARE GEORGE ALLYN (MARCH 29,1883-MAY 26, 1929)

CLARE GEORGE ALLYN, SECOND SON OF MR. AND MRS. GEORGE S. ALLYN, WAS BORN MARCH 29, 1883, IN MOUNT AYR, IOWA, AND DEPARTED THIS LIFE IN METHODIST HOSPITAL, DES MOINES, IOWA, SUNDAY EVENING, MAY 26, 1929, AT THE AGE OF 46 YEARS, ONE MONTH AND 26 DAYS. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS DEVOTED WIFE, HIS LOVING MOTHER, SISTERS MADGE AND GEORGIA, AND BROTHERS EARLE AND CLINT. HIS FATHER PRECEDED HIM IN DEATH BY SOME TEN MONTHS. MOUNT AYR HAS BEEN THE CONTINUOUS RESIDENCE OF CLARE ALLYN-HE RECEIVED THE COMPLETE EDUCATION TRAINING OFFERED BY THE MOUNT AYR PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND FURTHER STRENGTHENED THE PREPARATION FOR LIFE’S ACTIVITIES WITH TWO YEARS AT IOWA STATE COLLEGE, AMES, IOWA. UPON RETURNING TO MOUNT AYR, CLARE BECAME ASSOCIATED WITH THE MOUNT AYR BANK AND SERVED THIS BANK AND THE SUCCEEDING MOUNT AYR STATE BANK FOR SOME TWENTY YEARS IN DIFFERENT POSITIONS OF TRUST. HIS FINAL YEAR IN THE BANKING PROFESSION WAS SPENT WITH THE STATE BANKING DEPARTMENT IN THE CAPACITY OF RECEIVER FOR DEFUNCT BANKS. WHILE IN THE EMPLOY OF THE MOUNT AYR BANK, HE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO AGNES R. OMER, OCTOBER 14, 1913. THIS UNION ESTABLISHED ONE OF THE CHARMING HOMES OF THE COMMUNITY. THE PAST THREE YEARS HAVE IDENTIFIED CLARE IN THE BUSINESS WORLD AS A PARTNER IN THE J.L. KINSELL HARDWARE CO. OF THIS CITY. THESE POSITIONS OF A SEMI-PUBLIC NATURE HAVE THROWN HIM IN CLOSE CONTACT WITH LARGE NUMBERS OF OUR CITIZENS, AND BEING A MOST FRIENDLY FRIEND, THESE CONTACTS HAVE MARKED THE BEGINNINGS OF FOND FRIENDSHIPS THAT HAVE CONTINUED THROUGHOUT THIS SHORT LIFE. AS A LOVER OF GOOD MUSIC, HIS MUSICAL ENTHUSIASM WAS SHARED WITH THE PUBLIC THROUGH CONNECTION WITH DIFFERENT BANDS AND ORCHESTRAS. ANOTHER ASSOCIATION THAT LENT MUCH HAPPINESS TO HIM WAS HIS AFFILIATION WITH THE MASONIC LODGE AND THE MYSTIC SHRINE. THESE ORDERS ENJOYED HIS LOYAL SUPPORT.

WHY THIS KINDLY DISPOSED HUSBAND, SON AND BROTHER SHOULD BE TAKEN AT THIS TIME, WILL EVER REMAIN ONE OF LIFE’S MYSTERIES. “THE LORD GIVETH, AND THE LORD TAKETH AWAY, BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD.”
